World Players attends European Sport Forum amid key discussions on the future of sport

WPA took part in discussions alongside European stakeholders, with a focus on governance, working conditions, and the future of sport policy across the region.

World Players Association (WPA) attended the European Sport Forum, where stakeholders from across Europe gathered to discuss key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of sport. The event provided a space for exchange between institutions, governing bodies, and other actors across the sector.

Throughout the Forum, discussions focused on a range of topics, including the future of European sport and the importance of strengthening citizen participation, the promotion of health and well-being through physical activity, and the growing recognition of mental health and resilience among athletes. Sustainability and integrity in professional sport were also central themes, alongside efforts to enhance cooperation across the Mediterranean region.

From a World Players perspective, forums such as this remain important spaces to highlight the role of athletes within the sports ecosystem. Ensuring that players are recognised as workers and have opportunities to contribute to discussions that shape their careers continues to be a key priority.

The European Sport Forum once again proved to be a valuable platform for dialogue and cooperation. WPA extends its thanks to the European Commissioner and the DG EAC team for convening the Forum and facilitating these discussions.
