New player-led report highlights working conditions in women’s futsal at the UEFA Elite Round

AJFSF International has released a new player-led report examining the professional and sporting conditions of women’s futsal players competing in the UEFA Elite Round for the 2025 Women’s Futsal World Cup. The study is based on anonymous survey responses collected directly from players representing national teams across Europe.

The findings point to persistent challenges in key areas such as employment contracts, salaries, access to facilities, insurance coverage, financial compensation and media visibility. Despite competing at the highest international level, many women’s futsal players continue to face insecure working conditions and limited institutional recognition.

The report also explores the compatibility between women’s futsal and UEFA’s Unstoppable strategy, identifying gaps in implementation and opportunities to better integrate women’s futsal into long-term development, investment and governance frameworks.

At WPA, evidence-based research is central to advancing players’ rights and sustainable professionalisation. Reports like this help ensure that policy discussions are grounded in players’ lived experiences and support collective efforts to build fairer, safer and more equitable conditions across women’s sport.
