MLBPA advances collective bargaining proposals to strengthen player protections

New proposals highlight how collective bargaining gives players a direct voice in shaping their working conditions, health protections and careers.

As negotiations continue for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) has presented a package of proposals covering roster rules, player movement, health protections and access to performance data.

Through collective bargaining, players are actively shaping the conditions under which they work. From player health and safety to career stability and workplace transparency, collective agreements provide athletes with a structured process to negotiate improvements that affect their daily working lives.

The proposals include measures to expand active rosters at the start of the season, strengthen protections against roster manipulation, create greater job security for players moving between the major and minor leagues, improve opportunities for prospects, and increase players' access to performance data collected by clubs.

As the global voice of player associations, World Players recognises that every successful collective bargaining process reinforces a fundamental principle: when athletes organise collectively, they are better positioned to improve their own working conditions and the long-term sustainability of their sports.
